OUC "Water Conservation" Series
Where Does The Water Come From
Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) needed an expanded version of its existing energy and water conservation DVD. This was produced for residential customers to learn about environmentally friendly practices they could easily incorporate into their daily routine. The project required four new videos to be produced and integrated with the existing videos into a single DVD. The new videos had to be compatible with the format, overall look and scriptwriting style of the original productions – including the use of humor to engage the viewer’s interest. Hooah also was instructed to hire the same talent from the existing videos to complete the effect of continuity. The project included English and Spanish versions of each video.
The client provided the following topics for the conservation videos: faucet aerators, water recycling, the Florida aquifer and washer savings. The Hooah Production Studios team wrote scripts, provided the Spanish translation service and scouted locations. The videos were shot at area residences, retail stores and in house. Hooah also was able to hire the talent who had represented OUC in the original video campaign. Shooting for all four videos took place in six days.
Hooah authored a new DVD to seamlessly incorporate old and new videos into one product. In addition to duplicating the look and style of the original videos as closely as possible during production, taking this step allowed Hooah to provide consistent sound quality and color correction to create the appearance of all videos having been produced in the same time period. Videos were posted on OUC’s website and YouTube; a DVD of the videos was available by phone order.
The conservation videos posted online and available on DVD have been successful in increasing awareness among OUC customers about measures they can take to conserve our natural resources and to save money. Online videos have been shared through social media platforms, spreading the message even further.
