The Florida Mall
Capturing the high spirits of holiday shoppers was our project for The Florida Mall, which hired us to produce its entry in parent company Simon Mall’s annual “Holiday Happenings” competition for the best self-promotional video by its retail properties.
We hired professional actress Amanda to interview and interact with shoppers based on our outline, which included such questions as why people decided to shop at The Florida Mall, who they were shopping for, and what items were on their shopping list.
Shooting was done over a two-day period. Day one was spent scouting interior areas and taking b-roll footage of the mall’s holiday décor, live performances and Santa Claus at his station.
Interviews were on the second day, with Amanda approaching shoppers to ask why they chose The Florida Mall over other venues. Her bubbly personality caught people up in the spirit as she led them in holiday songs and lighthearted banter. Post-production work involved editing to keep the pace and action at a lively level; sound and color correction ensured a broadcast-ready video.
“Holiday Happenings” received the Best of the Best award from Simon Malls – the client’s desired recognition for excellence above all the holiday video submissions from its sister malls throughout the U.S.
